He founded Starboard Tack LLC, with the objective of: (i) providing real estate project management and asset management services to third parties and (ii) developing real estate opportunities in SW Florida.
Currently the CEO of The Pickleball Club LLC, which is developing 15 indoor pickleball facilities throughout the state of Florida ranging in size from 35,000 sf - 40,000 sf. Each club consists of 12 - 16 indoor courts and several outdoor courts. Project costs range from $12M - $15M each.
Co-founder of Watermark Property Group LLC with operations from 2008 – 2010 for acquiring, developing and managing marinas and inland boat storage facilities on the eastern seaboard. The Company managed and upgraded a $20 million marina in the Florida Keys.
The co-founder of the Southfork companies. From 2002 – 2007 developed a portfolio with an estimated value of $250 million and raised over $65 million in equity financing through direct participation programs. The Company started by developing self-storage facilities under the Gold Key Storage brand name. This led to the original idea of building inland boathouses for trailer boats; two of which were built under the brand name Gold Key Boathouses. After identifying the opportunity in boat storage, the Company embarked on the development of marina properties located in North Carolina and Florida. The industry association honored the Wilmington, North Carolina marina as 2008 Marina of the Year.
His previous real estate enterprises have involved the development and construction of commercial shopping centers for Kmart and JC Penney, restaurants for Burger King Corporation and the syndication, management, repositioning and construction of over 3,000 apartment units in California and Arizona. Mr. McCarthy was a principal in his broker/dealer firm that acted as the manager of eight public real estate direct participation programs and managed over $80 million in real estate assets.

Rear Admiral Brian McCarthy SC, USN(Ret) served for 30 years in the United States Navy, from Vietnam to Desert Storm. In Vietnam he served aboard USS BUCK [DD-761], as the Supply Officer, Surface Warfare Officer, and Boat Officer on patrol boats [PBRs] attached to River Assault Squadrons in the Mekong Delta. Admiral McCarthy held five commands during his career. As a flag officer, he served as Deputy Director of the Defense Logistics Agency [DLA]; Commander DLA's Contingency Support Teams, and the Navy’s Expeditionary Fuel Units. He was a Principal Logistics Planner for Desert Storm under the Chief of Naval Operations and a frequent war game participant at the Naval War College. Admiral McCarthy was personally decorated ten times and is currently active in our community as a director and officer of several non-profit organizations.
